Wholesale Single Use Bags FAQ
How much actual space do you lose below the top seal line?
You lose roughly 0.75 inches to 1 inch of vertical filling space at the top of the pouch to account for the heat seal element and tear notch zone. Because these flat profiles have an open top without a built-in zip track, you get the entire interior width for loading, but filling your flower or extracts too close to the top edge traps raw material in the seam and ruins the weld.
Before setting funnel drops or loading automated continuous band-sealers, check your physical boundaries using the technical specification tables inside each product listing.
- Pre-Roll & Cartridge Envelopes (1.97" x 5.91" and 2.8" x 7.5"): Long, narrow runs sized to keep joint tubes or distillate syringes from sliding around sideways.
- Extract & Concentrate Formats (3.25" x 3.75" and 4" x 5"): Compact square profiles built to keep folded parchment squares flat without creasing.
- Larger Flat Pouches (7.5" x 5"): Wide layouts designed for larger loose flower volumes or serving as multi-unit checkout pouches.
Why is my heat sealer burning the clear window but not sealing the foil back?
Clear plastic windows melt at much lower temperatures than solid metalized foil backings, meaning you have to lower your heat bar and adjust your dwell timing to avoid warping the front face. Laminated foil backings handle high heat fast on direct continuous band-sealers, but clear polymers pull less thermal load and warp instantly if the sealer clamps down too long.
Finding the right speed balance stops bad seals and keeps strong terpene odors locked in. For real-world details on how different film laminations and core densities react to heat, check out our Architecture of the Pouch Guide.
Are torn open-top bags legal for storefront sales at checkout?
A single-use heat seal provides perfect tamper-evidence before the customer opens it, but it fails storefront compliance laws after the top notch is torn off because it cannot reclose. Most state compliance frameworks dictate that your final checkout pouch must stay child-resistant through multiple uses, so basic open-top single-use mylar pouches are typically used as inner liners rather than standalone retail packages.
To showcase product quality through a clear front screen while remaining fully compliant, place these filled single-use pouches directly inside non-transparent child-resistant packaging or heavy opaque dispensary exit bags at checkout. To cross-reference your exact regional checkout laws and opacity rules, review our updated State Compliance Regulations Guide.
Can I buy just a few packs to test on my machinery before ordering pallets?
Yes, our open wholesale supply chain allows you to buy unprinted blank packaging starting at a single unit or a standard 50-pack all the way up to full multi-pallet freight shipments. We do not force operations into massive cash outlays just to test sealer settings or check flat-pack tolerances on your conveyor lines.
If you need to apply branding graphics without wasting labor hours hand-stickering individual packages, our warehouse can handle the mechanical layout application for you. To check exact plate setups and get centered alignment on small 4" x 5" dimensions, see the configurations on our In-House Label Application Service.
