For the serious female skier or snowboarder, the DaKine Women's Heli Pro DLX 18L Backpack will carry your gear comfortably whether carving turns in the backcountry or walking to the lodge. The smaller volume of this pack provides a better fit for the generally smaller female torso than DaKine's unisex version of the same pack. Also, the Heli-Pro DLX backpack has numerous features not found on its smaller cousin, the Heli Pro pack. For one, the Heli Pro DLX is capable of hauling a snowboard in a cross carry arrangement thanks to a secondary external back panel that creates a wide, stable carry sleeve. Another upgrade is the spacious, easily accessible external snow tool pocket, large enough for a snow shovel, skins, and an extra layer of clothing. And if that's not enough tool carrying capacity, a quick draw ice axe / shovel handle holster is also included. Additional carry features include a stable, one-strap, retractable ski carry and diagonal capability. The DaKine Women's Heli Pro DLX also offers upgraded pocket features. The zippered tool pocket includes a secure key clip and a zippered waistbelt pocket accommodates most digital cameras, making it real handy to record an unforgettable run. Overall this backpack is terrific! It fits perfectly on my shoulders and I enjoy having the hipstraps and chest strap to keep some of the weight off my back. I think it fits my 5'4'' tall frame well. This back pack does not have as many pockets as I had hoped but fits most of my school textbooks. I know this is a backpack for snowboarding/skiing but I chose to use this as a school pack. As I feared this backpack's hydration pocket is not large enough to hold my 15in laptop, but I still kept it. The top goggle pocket I use to keep my pens and pencils in and the smaller pocket I keep my wallet and calculator in. The larger pocket holds my papers and text books. (Posted on 4/23/12)
